Today, it's been exactly one year since we first released Portal: Prelude. It was a hell of a year, but even if there's still some people discovering or playing the mod for the first time right now as I write, things highly cooled down.
We tried to calculate the total download count, but this is just too hard to do after one year. Some websites have gone down, some websites don't count downloads, some others resetted their counters and some didn't even changed for a few months. There was an approximate additionnal 200,000 downloads during the last 25 weeks, which means people still download the mod on an average basis of 1150 times a day. That's still a good score.
According to statistics and extrapolations, the mod was approximately downloaded 1,000,000 times since the release. But that still doesn't count magazines, sharing websites and peer to peer softwares, which probably represent at least 50% more players. I guess you, people, liked what we did. So, thanks, and if you don't get what I'm talking about, refer yourself to the 'Reminder' article.

Follow this blog since a year but downloaded the mod just 2 hours ago. I played till chamber 5 so far, I guess you can call me kind of a casual gamer. But as far as I can judge all this, you did a great job. I have to congratulate! And to thank!

I just want to say, I love this mod and you're a sadistic bastard. The puzzles aren't too hard to figure out, but you need the precision of a machine to pull them off. I am a better man for this mod, thank you.

I have instaled Portal: Prelude, and it has been placed into my Sourcemods. However every time I try to play the game, I get the Warning sign and the Intro music, but then the game kicks me to my desktop and says that hl2.exe has stopped working.
I have tried to figure out what went wrong but I am unable to figure it out. The exact same thing happened when I tried to instal Portal: The Flash Version into my Portal maps incorrectly... However I am sure that I read the instructions right and installed the game right, but cannot play it.

Thank you!

Congratulations, PP is a very polished and thorough mod that has the feel of a professional release. A joy to play if somewhat frustrating (but that's sort of the point really).
Thank you.

Those download stats might be slightly skewed since I know ~SOME~ of us have installed/uninstalled/re-installed/uninstalled/re-installed a few times. Congrats though.

Yeah, probably, but that doesn't represent a large chunk compared to one million downloads.

I'm one of those people coming to Portal: Prelude for the first time. Grabbed Portal cheap in the holiday Steam sells and went looking for some user content.
Looks like I hit paydirt; thanks for all the hard work guys.

this mod was fun, and stumped me at times. even though i saw a walkthrough before playing. im putting up a (what i hope to come out as) mod of portal to tell what happens afterwards. there is a bit of a jump between the end of portal and the beginning of this mod, but i can explain if you want.
