Hello.
I'm having problem with turrets speech in all chambers. It seems that the game is unable to load that sounds.
I get this error from console:
...
Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_search_4.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_search_4.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository

Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_tipped_5.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_tipped_5.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_disabled_7.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_disabled_7.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
Failed to load sound "npc\turret_floor\turret_disabled_7.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
...
I have got the spanish version and that sounds are fine in the original Portal. I was looking for that sounds in the "portal spanish" and "portal english" .gcf files and the .wav files are there. See this capture:
But if I look into the "portal content.gcf" file I find no .wav files. I think that is correct in original Portal. Maybe the mod is looking for that .wav files there insted of "portal spanish.gcf" or "portal english.gcf"???? See this capture:
Any help? Great mod. Thank you.

He probado dejándolo en inglés y sigue igual.
Saludos y gracias.

I've tried switching the game in original english and the error persist. Subtitles display fine but no sound. I could try another language but I'm too lazy to download that big files from Steam. And think I'll not be able to fix the problem that way.
Maybe it all came from an error in the installer. I installed the game manually from the .zip file. I'll be waiting for the new version that seems to solve the installer issue.
Many thanks.

English > And Do you have any problem with the turret's speech in Portal (try it now)? Seems quite strange to me, because I Think that Portal: Prelude doesn't include any speech for the turrets, it reads the speech directly from the Portal original files, so if you change the language, turrets will speak in diferent languages regardless Portal: Prelude has only english voices. That's why I think your problem is not the zip installer.
By the way, tell us if your problem is solved with the upcoming patch installer.

That's the point. No such problem with original Portal. Turrets' speech sound is ok, regardless english or spanish version. Very very strange...
Mmmm, I wonder if another mod using turrets features fails too in loading that sounds...
Hoping new upgrade, just in case.
EDIT:
Installed new version. Same error ![]()

I just tried the mod with Portal using spanish and took out the english GCF just in case. No problem in neither Portal and Prelude.
Try this, open the "portal spanish.gcf" and go to the "turrent_floor" folder. Right-click and select "Validate". It is possible your file is corrupt or not completely downloaded. Also right-click and select "Properties", how many "Items" are there and what is the total size? For me it shows up as 8.86 MB.

@Pyro
Thanks for your reply.
I've validate both .gcf files (portal spanish.gcf and portal english.gcf) and seem to be ok. Then in properties it shows this:

Spanish and english respectively.
I don't know what to do ![]()

How about we compare the MD5 checksums. I downloaded this MD5 Checker. And since GCF files can be fragmented, I used GCFScape to defrag the files before looking at checksums. I don't know if GCFExplorer (which is the one you are using) can defrag. To defrag in GCFScape, open a GCF and go to Options and select "Write Access". Close it, and open the GCF you wish to defrag. Make sure you have "root" selected, so you can defrag the whole thing. Go to Tools... Defragment. A window will appear asking you "This action may take a few minutes and slow your system down while it completes, continue anyway?". Click Ok and wait until it is done. It was quick for me.
After defragmentation, open that MD5 Checker and highlight and copy the numbers you see below and browse for the GCF matching that checksum.
portal spanish.gcf MD5: E8BA4A444ABD6813AAAE208C260CF701
portal english.gcf MD5: D905E4D0E90AAC2EF5C0C9D9E0CB46B6
portal content.gcf MD5: 14D4B38B18BE0CC6EBB0FD46CC711FAB
Maybe you are missing a file from Prelude and has nothing to do with the Portal GCF files.

After defragmenting and validating the three files (everything ok) with GCFScape v.1.7.0 I've got this results:
portal spanish.gcf (version 0) MD5: a0054a52d3e219d139fa419ddbc0f749
portal english.gcf (version 1) MD5: 64a70881c3bed40d826eea748ef2361e
portal content.gcf (version 7) MD5: 3f79bd782898b16d29bfbb810865f8ae
I really don't know ![]()
Pyro, many thanks for your interest. I really appreciate your replies.

Maybe we are looking in the wrong place. The issue might not be with the spanish GCF, but with the content GCF. Think about it, Prelude looks for a certain file in the content file to look in the spanish file. Maybe your portal content file is missing a very small piece. Or some file is corrupt when you downloaded prelude.
What are all the sound files it claims it can't load?
EDIT: Yes I know they are in the first post, but are those the only ones?

Enable the developer mode with "developer 1" in the console, and it should show the name of the missing sound files when it tries to play it.
Edit: Ah, damnit, the sounds are in the first post, I didn't see them at the first place.
