In the video i blatantly walk into that area to get stuck, but it originally happened because I was bouncing around waiting for the guy to move.

Yeah, there's something odd about the NPC collisions in the game. I wasn't sure if this had to do with the mod or Portal. I had the same problem, but with the asian guy that walks around the main hall. He pushed me for what seemed to be forever, not letting me move at all.
It looks like Abby's collision data is getting stuck in the NPCs', which is not good, hence why HL2 always has NPCs move out of your way. Considering this is with Portal and not HL2, I think this could be a Portal problem (since HL2 has a good collision detector and Portal has no human NPCs).

Anyway, I sometimes had the same problem. To solve it, just activate noclip, move just out of the NPC's collision area, then turn noclip off.
The biggest problem I have with that level (besides a five-minute load time ) is that after going to the party, I cannot trigger the event where the scientist asks Abby to follow him. Is it maybe that I went to that observation room BEFORE the party room, and the follow sequence can only be triggered by the cutscene? Last time that happened, I had to noclip through the door to the lab hallway, and then walk blindly through the halls until I got to the familiar section...

Yeah, he has something wrong with his event. I got him to activate by leaving, walking around again, then coming back after the door closed. I was shocked to see him.

And disappointingly, NPCs cannot be sent through portals
But at least Turrets are as portalable as ever.

It would've been pretty funny to send an NPC through a portal. Especially if they screamed or something.

It was even one of the things I was looking forward to doing: Putting a portal above and below the NPC's... I died a little inside when I found out I couldn't...
