I'm not sure if this is technically a bug or just a very GFX intensive scene, but this is my problem.
I get to the room where you switch GLaDOS on, watch the scene, hit the switch. She starts talking, and then right as she says something about "[finding] a better sound" the game locks up with extreme lag. It doesn't freeze, it still runs, just extremely slowly (about 1 frame per 2 seconds) with no sound whatsoever. I can't finish the game like this.
I have a somewhat old computer, but I can play pretty much any source game without problem as long as the graphics settings are turned down. I played through Prelude up until that point with no problems or lag.
If it matters, my specs are a 2.8Ghz Pentuim4, Radeon 9250 Gfx card (128MB), and 512MB of RAM.

I didn't realize I fell short of the minimum requirements. Like I said, everything ran fine up until that point. Guess I can't expect to be able to game with this PC forever. I'm hoping to get a new GFX card and a 2GB RAM upgrade though, so there is still hope that I can finish the game!
Thanks for the help.

I would also strongly suggest buying one of the new i7 intel quad cores... a p4 is really old nowadays.

I've got a AMD 32x2, NVIDIA 8600 GT, and 3 gb of RAM. I lag on the last boss fight (but not as bad as 1 fps 0.0)
It just seems like a very graphic intensive scene to me.

True, i have ,hmm old computer, original portal = no lags, about 90 fps
portal prelude, same, about 90 fps, but boss fight? 50 fps + extremy lags when is Glados killing people etc., in first lag what happened totaly disable voice, music... there is something bad with this map!

The last Map, and boss battle, is pushing the limits of the source engine, this is explained in some detail in the commentaries, I suggest you listen & read those... it's quite interesting...

You must have a problem somewhere.
I'm using a single core AMD 2.4 Ghz, an old ATI X1950 and 2 GB of RAM and I don't get any lag at all.
