I have recently been working on a route for chamber 17 and I have figured out a good strategy to complete the starting room quickly by using a pretty tricky ABH. I just need help to figure out a strategy for the part when you get the cube and enter the room with 4 turrets. So far I have been knocking them down myself and going back for the cube after but I'm sure there must be a better way.
After I get the cube onb the button I simply wall climb using the fallen camera to the elevator instead of doing the fling. I think with perfection maybe sub 60 is possible...only just.

Actually don't worry about it, I just remembered back to demonstrates video for the Oob route how he does the portal bump past the grill to get the cube into the turret room. I will use this method and doing it quickly may get the run under 1 minute.

Can you get the elevator to work at the end of the level? Mine doesn't seem to move. Other than that, I've got a decently solid route.

It is a bug found and already repaired for the patch.

Well, i'm not gonna update to the patched version, so you are on your own for that. Too many things will be fixed and that is no fun.

Damn this stupid ballcatcher bug again xD
I wish we found this one earlier!
Hey, you had your chance for me to test for you. I still know more bugs that I'm just not telling you guys, and I haven't seen anyone report them yet, too.

Well, about bugs.... I made a whole list of chambers where it was easy to get into observation rooms, but almost always you purposely had to try to get in to get in... so didn't bother with those, some cameras that didn't want to fall of... but didn't bother with those as there were ofter not important enough and you really had to try hard to get to them or something.... nodraw errors which you need to purposely try to find at really complex solutions... you can bump portals onto windows of observations rooms.... some stuck situations where you really have to TRY to get stuck in the first place... bit meh, lazy, don't get payed for it etc :p
I know of some other portal bumps that aren't partially interesting in any way... and again you have to try to get them to work....
Nobody is ever going to notice, or if they do they will have a laugh and continue...

You seemed to care about the ball catcher bug, so I'd assume you care about other unknown bugs as well.

Theres a fine line between bugs that you should care about and bugs that are just a waste of time.... See, when a bug directly breaks normal game play then it immediately has priority, if it can possibly influence game play then it's an issue that should be fixed... But if you need to 'try hard' or do 'abnormal things' to replicate it, it's not much of an issue... Especially when it's a mod, of course you try to get out most of the bugs even if they aren't essentially game breaking, but with limited resources your priorities need to be very well ordered...
If you're never going to find a bug back without doing very specific things it's not an issue, then there are the engine exploits which really can't be solved, and you wouldn't want them to be solved either I guess...
You said you didn't want to patch your game, but I would do it anyway, it's not like Nicolas trashed all your OOB routes. Atleast, I hope so, I hope he realizes that people might not be too happy about it if he did, although I can imagine he might have made it harder to abuse...

Yeah, I see where your coming from, the ball catcher bug allows you to totally bypass that part of the puzzle. But still, its good for us speedrunners to have a few bugs in there we can take advantage of

Unfortunately the ball catcher bug is just way too easy, and it works on all levels which is really bad...

Well, I'm like most speedrunners where we use the 1.0 version of a game because it has the most exploits. With most Steam games, they auto-update and you'd be hard pressed to find older versions or multiple versions of a game. I would love to use an older version than the current version of Portal, but not version 1.0, because demo recording wasn't fixed in version 1.0. In the current version, you cannot move while OoB, because Valve did a major update to all source games that does not allow movement while OoB on almost any source game, or at least the few I've tested (DoDS for example, you used to be able to get under the level on certain maps, and CSS had the same issue). If I was able to get a random inbetween version of Portal, I would get that and use it to speedrun. Speedrunners use whatever version saves them time, hands down. Since this is a mod, its only a choice if I want to update or not, so I'm not going to. I saw the changelog. I'm happy they are fixing those things, but the speedrunner in me will use the older one to make routes, do testing, and complete challenges on.

Keep your 1.0.0 installer somewhere safe, because we'll delete it from the mirror list as soon as the 1.1.0 comes out.
I just remembered I can just install both versions, if I just rename the portalprelude folder to something else.

Hopefully my internet service provider will keep the 1.0.0 hosting seperate from 1.0.1. *crosses fingers*
