my hard drive has 2 partitions so it has 30Gb as c: for windows, but i have steam installed on my big partition (driveF:). now, i have 86Gb of free space left on the partition with steam and c: is almost full. I think the installer is trying to install on c: because its telling me there isnt enough space on the disk. so is there a way to manual install or make the installer find the right location? also is there a way to just set F: as the default drive for everything?

The installer looks for the Steam registry keys and installs Portal: Prelude in the Steam sourcemods folder accordingly.
I guess you may have manually moved the Steam folder and caused major desync between folders and registry ?

no i didnt manually move it, but i did create a new directory on drive F and installed steam there. so the path is F:/program files/steam/steamapps.....etc. is there a default path that the installer looks for?
i am not at home right now, when i get home i will make sure there are no steam folders on c:

Yeah, the installer should look for the Steam folder, wherever it is.
In case you didn't manage to install it in the right folder, let it install itself in the wrong place and just copy the whole "portal prelude" file to the "steam\steamapps\sourcemods" folder.

that would work, but the drive is full. i cant find any steam folders on it either....*scratches head*
wait.. the path that its saying is full is the right path, but theres 86Gb of free space left on it, how much space do i need?
got 100Gb free now.
found it, need 1.5Gb free.

i was able to install the 1.0.0 to 1.1.0 update just fine, but it still says i dont have enough space available. could other mods affect it? like fakefactory cm9 for half life 2 for example. or could it be 64 bit vista..
almost giving up i think, firefox started crashing out and paint wont let me save screanshots....at least i did get to play the mod before. i was still on xp when it as released at first, worked fine then. oh well great work on the mod thanks for the help.
it IS a .exe file, d-loaded from moddb, i own portal and al my other games(i dont pirate)
